Braveheart was one of the first crias born at our new farm. We couldn’t believe the tight curls that were visible the day he was born, a characteristic of many of the Lancaster offspring. His dense, fine and uniform fiber has always been a pleasure to examine. Braveheart’s first place ribbon and purple ribbon for highest scoring dark huacaya fleece at the 2008 Empire Spin-Off (Empire Symposium and Fleece Event) validates the character and beauty of his fiber for spinning and use in alpaca end products.
Braveheart won his first blue ribbon at the 2007 North American Alpaca Show, when he was just 9 months old. He presents with excellent conformation, correct bite, and an endearing personality. Braveheart is wonderfully easy to handle. In fact, we know of at least one family that was convinced to go into the alpaca business because of the way Braveheart responded to their children (and vice versa)!
In addition to the fantastic genetics that Braveheart inherited from Lancaster and Peruvian Conan on his sire’s side, Braveheart’s ribbon winning dam, Chanel, is the offspring of CPeruvian Winchester , one of Hobby Horse Farm's champion herdsires. At just two years old, Braveheart started his breeding career here at Patchwork Meadow, with a confirmed pregnancy to our Snowmass Incaaccoyo Star daughter, Madeline. We are certain that their pairing will result in an outstanding cria in May of 2009.
Update: May 2009
Braveheart's first cria has arrived, and she is a white beauty! Please look for Sweet Addy on our crias page. She was 20.2 lbs at birth, extremely soft and silky, with strong, straight legs........ and, she gained over 5 lbs in the first week of life. Well done, Madeline and Braveheart!
Please contact us for further information or to schedule a breeding to this exciting young male.
